dyspareunia: Painful sex (dysparenia) is common when first becoming sexually active. It simply takes time for your vagina and hymen to adapt. See your ob/gyn and make sure there are no issues going on.

Doctor can evaluate: A pediatrician can check for problems and refer to the ob-gyn doctor if needed. The cause of the symptoms may be physical and non-physical, combined. In the U.S., a 16 year-old boy or girl actually has no important reason to need to have sex (although teens do have sex and may believe they have important reasons for doing so). After problems are solved, one can stay abstinent and see what happens.
