weight loss math: To maintain your current weight, you probably need to consume about 2000 cal/day. A pound of fat = 3500 calories. To lose 5 lbs, you need to burn 5 x 3500=17500 cal. If you eat 1500 cal/day (500 cal deficit) it will take you 35 days to lose 5 lbs. More exercise (increased burn) helps. However, counting calories is hard. Most people underestimate portion size. Good luck.
