Food poisoning : Or gastroenteritis won't go on and on recurring day after day unless someone is literally trying to poison you! the he nausea and vomiting of pregnancy can wax and wane from day to day. Not necessarily confined to mornings. Persisting typically thru the first trimester of pregnancy. "food poisoning" of gastroenteritis would resolve much faster. (if you mean you ate some bad tuna salad).

might not matter...: What i mean is, if you have severe enough vomiting or diarrhea, either way you need to be seen and treated, possibly with IV fluids. If your symptoms are less concerning, then i would say the best way to distinguish is that pregnancy usually only causes mild to moderate nausea and occasional vomiting. Whereas food poisonings are often going to be more of a diarrheal illness.
