They've always been: There were actually a greater proportion of our population using opiates and Cocaine at the turn of the 20th century (the late 19th century and early 20th) than there are now. Actually, these drugs are much less expensive than they used to be, with heroin being available for as little as $3 a bag (about 20 mg/heroin) and Cocaine at $25/gram. Abuse of prescription opiates has increased heroin use.

Yeah it can: In very very heavy users of cocaine, it wasn't so much dumber as crazier, with some users showing what was essentially a chronic brain syndrome that kind of looked like what you see in elderly demented patients. They were very depressed, anhedonic (no pleasure in anything) and looked a lot like chronic undifferentiated schizophrenics. Mephedrone even more so than cocaine, bath salts very toxic.

Can you get cocaine in your system when you don't do it but you boyfriend does ?

Dr. Emil Mondoa

Cocaine positive: If you are in the space where it is being smoked or it gets into your food or drink somehow, yes. Sometimes marijuana is laced with harder drugs like Cocaine or opiates. People who smoke such concoctions would test positive for the hard drugs. Otherwise, just knowing someone who uses Cocaine should not cause one to test positive.
