Ok to exercise: It's ok to exercise, and even beneficial, as long as 1.) you don't have a fever--this can worsen your illness and can be very problematic if you have inflammation of your heart muscle as part of the illness; and 2.) it is easy/moderate exercise, not highly intense/vigorous exercise--this can lead to immune system suppression and worsen/prolong your illness.
