Abnormal Ultrasound?: An ultrasound (u) is read by a radiologist (r) and echogenicity of the kidneys is subject to the r's interpretation of it. To see if one has any significant kidney impairment, one needs to have a 24 hour urine for a creatinine clearance to assess one's renal function. Ask the doctor who ordered the u to order it ask the doctor why the u was ordered in the first place.

Do not worry: If the report says normal echogenic cortex there is nothing to worry. Kidneys during pregnacy will enlarged some.
