How long a person can live with ventilator?

1 doctor answer
Dr. George Horng
19 years experience in Pulmonary Critical Care
depends: The ventilator is simply a device used to breath for the patient. How long a pt can live on the ventilator depends on the underlying disease. However, pts on the ventilator are more likely to develop certain complications such as pneumonia.
