any reason too much magnesium would cause ringing in one ear? just started 250mg magnesium because of muscle cramps, and recently my right ear has started to ring. probably just coincidence but still wondering if it could possibly be related?

Accepted Answer

: Even with abnormal kidney function, dose of 250 mg magnesium should not make much change in your magnesium level. The tinnitus is likely a coincidence but it won't do any harm if you stop magnesium pill for a week or two. If the tinnitus resolves, you can try a different magnesium formula.

can muscle cramps over most of the body be caused by parasites? doesn't seem to be magnesium related.

Cramps : Are also caused by lack of potassium,  calcium, and dehydration.  Parasites seem like an unlikely answer.

which nerve in body causes calf cramps and ankle cramps? im not having back pain. im taking daily magnesium and that seems to help my muscle cramps somewhat after taking it so not sure if its magnesium or a nerve problem

Not really one nerve: Leg cramps are common in people with and without medical disorders, which means having leg cramps is not specific enough to lead a person to a diagnosis. A person can get more leg cramps if there is:  muscle fatigue, physical inactivity, liver/kidney/thyroid disorder, diabetes, dietary imbalance, osteoarthritis, Parkinson disease, pregnancy, spinal stenosis, nerve damage or abnormality, etc,...

muscle cramps only in calves. possible causes? perhaps muscles are underused and yesterday i did a lot more walking. have heard too much calcium can cause this but don't know where i'd be getting that much calcium?

: Muscle cramps are quite common in otherwise healthy people. Excessive exercise in an unconditioned individual or electrolyte imbalance from any cause can also cause cramps but the role of calcium is not that well described unless the level is extremely low which is uncommon but it happens  if the parathyroid glands are accidentally removed during thyroid surgery.

Multiple: There are several diseases including hyperthyroidism  (excessive thyroid production) and  heart failure.  I would recommend you to visit your doctor and have some blood work done.

prilosec for about a year. think it caused magnesium deficiency(i have muscle cramps). ive heard mag deficiency can cause heart issues. get tested?

If you: Stopped taking the Prilosec can recheck your magnesium level in a week to 2 weeks. Will expect a return to normal. Diuretics can also reduce your magnesium level

Fatigue, dehydration: Probably the most likely causes for muscle
cramps is either fatigue or dehydration.
I say several cases in the first football game
of the season in the fourth quarter
usually if you are not in optimal shape or
you havent taken enough fluids the muscles
will cramp.
Better to try to avoid the problem in the first place.
