Dr. Thomas D Nielsen is a cardiologist in Birmingham, Alabama. He was raised in Atlanta, GA. He graduated with distinction from the undergraduate and graduate electrical engineering programs at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He then worked as an engineer and programmer in industry and in medical research, acting as lead software engineer for a leading cardiology company before deciding to pursue a degree in medicine.
Dr. Nielsen earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 2001 where he attained Alpha Omega Alpha honors. He then trained at Duke University Medical Center for Internal Medicine Internship and Residency and at the University of Alabama Medical School in Birmingham, AL, for Fellowship in Cardiology.
