I am a child and adult neurologist who has been practicing medicine over 20 years. My passion is sharing information in a clear plainly spoken way so everyone can be empowered to care for their own health or that of their loved one.
I enjoy taking care of adults who had epilepsy and/or autism and/or developmental disabilities ("slow" or "challenged") from childhood. I treat these same conditions in childhood, however few docs know what to do when a special needs child grows up.
As a member of the Child Neurology Society, American Academy of Neurology, American Epilepsy Society and International League Against Epilepsy I offer insight into the most recent epilepsy findings, evaluations and treatment. I am a member of the Epilepsy Genetics special interest group and am happy to explain about genetics of epilepsy, autism, developmental disabilities.
People with complex disorders with brain issues as one part of the problem seem to have difficulty finding a doctor interested in how all aspects of their condition interact to affect their mood, behavior, sleepiness, learning, seizures, and more. My ability to take in the whole picture and help you determine the direction of evaluation and treatment is not just rare but is vital.
If you simply wish to have your EEG or MRI or doctors note put into plain words by an experienced doctor who is also a mother and teacher, I am here for you.
Other areas of interest: Chiari Malformation, Autism, Autoimmune disorders and the Brain, Diet and Brain Health, Mast Cell Disorders, Epilepsy Advocacy, Mental Health and effects of Stigma in those with Neurologic Disorders, Behavioral Treatment of Insomnia and anxiety in neurologic disorders.
