Unprotected sex: Your chances of becoming pregnant are low if your period truly ended the day prior. To become pregnant you have to be ovulating (release of an egg) which occurs approximately 12-14 days after your period ended. To avoid the concern in the future, I recommend either having the male partner ALWAYS wear a condom and consider having a reversible long acting form of contraception such as an IUD.

Buy a pregnancy test: A woman of childbearing age who has had unprotected vaginal intercourse with a man and has subsequently missed her period is pregnant until proven otherwise. I recommend going to your local grocery store and buying a pregnancy test. If negative, I would repeat in 2 weeks unless you have had a period by then. If positive, establish care with a family medicine or OB physician.

Yes and no: Your child has a common age-specific viral infection. If your nanny has been around him or her in close proximity, she likely has been exposed -- just like a common cold. If her kids are > 6 yr old, it really doesn't matter. If they are < 6 yr old, then it is a watch and wait scenario. But the spread is unlikely. I recommend all kids be fully vaccinated to prevent more serious infections.
