Sun damage: Despite sunscreen use the sun will still cause darkening of freckles and sunspots known as solar lentigos. Many people notice that their sunspots are progressing despite sunscreen use. Continue to use your sunscreen SPF 30 or higher; I like physical blockers such as Titanium and zinc. Photofacials are effective at removing sunspots, skin peels and bleaching creams can also be helpful. Wear a hat.

Acne scars deeper: Hello, I empathize with you regarding the scarring from cystic acne. Acne scars are among the most challenging conditions we see as dermatologists. LIght peels generally do not penetrate deep enough to restructure the collagen, which is needed for the treatment of scars. The newer fractionated lasers can be quite successful, along with fillers such as Juvederm. Go slowly.

Nail Matrix cause: Any injury or inflammation of the nail matrix (where the nail is formed underneath the proximal nail fold) can cause nail plate changes such as ridges or indentations. A mucous cyst near the proximal nail fold can also cause deformation of the growing nail. Usually melanomas pigmented, and will appear as brown streaks in the nail, known as melanonychia. Some melanomas can be pink. See a doctor.
