Now retired from a 40 year career in surgery I now spend my time looking after grandkids and making music while attending ongoing education classes. What I miss most is interaction with patients and the feelings that go with being of service. Standard trauma evaluation first after resuscitation if needed.

You are experiencing what we call disparate symptoms meaning that they do not seem related.

"Stomach ulcer"is a condition that is not easily self-diagnosed and requires significant expertise. This, of course,may be related to your esophageal discomfort but maybe not. "Gas in the bladder" is probably a misconception and the advice here is to see a qualified physician to sort this all out. ...See more

Hi Dr I have tennis elbow pain for a week now what should I do? In brief: Rest, wrap and ice

Try for one week with ice intermittent, ace wrap and rest for one week with anti inflammatory analgesic ( Ibuprofen, naprosyn ).

If no improvement see doctor for further workup.

I’ve had sharp pains in my upper stomach for 3 days. Took a laxative last night & felt no relief after the ‘laxative effect’. Im a female 33 years. ? In brief: Ultrasound

There are few things that cause upper abdominal pain in a healthy young person.

Gallstones is one of them and can easily be identified on ultrasound. Also, it may provide a clue to look in other places.

Dull perineal pain is often due to an irritated or prematurely enlarged prostate.

Often, in young men, this is due to extended time on a bicycle seat. Digital rectal exam by an experienced person can often identify the problem and PSA, though useful for detecting early prostate malignancy, would not be affected by a condition such as yours. Next stop - colonoscopy. ...See more
