No: No carrier state in measles . Once you get the disease you develop antibodies for life . You can transmit the disease only in the acute phase or when you have the active measles infection . Not otherwise. Hence we advocate to immunize all kids . This is to prevent active infection and it's spread from person to person .

Don't worry!: Hand foot mouth disease is highly contagious . But it is a self limited disease. Yes , we recommend limit exposure in kids who have them . But if other kids have been in contact with him already just let their parents know so they are aware of it and can seek the necessary medical attention . Don't worry ,it is fine .

Yes: Yes they can . IEM s ( inborn errors of metabolism ) can present in teenagers . They may manifest as acute or chronic neuropsychiatric disorders like psychosis, confusion ,hallucinations ,late onset personality changes ,mild mental retardation and also as peripheral neuropathy or seizures .

Folloculitis: It is an infection of the hair follicle . It is a superficial infection . You can take care of it at home by using moist heat, salt water compress and OTC topical antibiotic like neosporin . If it spreads or starts getting bigger and painful then get it chkd by pediatrician .

Topical steroid: Use OTC Hydrocortisone 1 or 0.5 percent . You will find it on the shelves as Cortaid (hydrocortisone) or cortisone or anti itch creams or gels . See your doctor if it does not get better after using it for 1 week

No: Sleep aids are not reccomended in children . Unless he has other neurological or developmental disorders due to which he is having sleep issues then you have to talk to your pediatrician about it.

Yes : Yes . If you are having symptoms then your Pcp can order a screening blood test to chk levels of antibodies which are high in celiac disease. They are endomysial and tissue transglutaminase antibody.if these are high then a referral to a gastroenterologist is needed for biopsy of the intestine.
