Serena M. Satcher, MD, FAAPMR
Dr. Serena M. Satcher brings a wealth of experience in Musculoskeletal Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Occupational Medicine ,medical leadership and more recently Functional Medicine to her patients . She earned a degree in medicine from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN in 1989 ,completed a residency in Internal Medicine New England Deaconess Hospital of Boston (now Beth Israel-Deaconess, affiliated with Harvard) in 1992 and a second residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL in 1996. She is board certified by the American Boards of Internal Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Anti-aging , Regenerative and Functional Medicine and Integrative and Holistic Medicine. She is also subspecialty boarded in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Satcher has served as a clinical instructor on the faculty of Northwestern University in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and formerly as a clinical instructor on faculty at the University of Illinois both in Chicago, IL. Her areas of interest in Rehabilitation have been in the areas of Wound Care, Sports and Spine, Occupational Health and Arthritis Rehabilitation. Her areas of interest are now in Functional medicine approaches to Arthritis and Autoimmune diseases. She believes approaching illness and disease from the root causes or arresting what is causing the disease process.
In her spare time, Dr. Satcher enjoys running, cycling, swimming and painting. She has always believed in treating the whole person and not just the hole in the patient.
