May not need meds: To reduce nasal and sinus congestion, try vapor rub, vapor bath, elevate your head overnight with extra pillows under it, use a cool mist humidifier in the bedroom, drink tea with honey to treat the cough, use saline nasal spray to keep from getting nosebleeds and to keep the nasal discharge clear and running (instead of thick and clogged). Neti pot may help as well.

Metabolic change: Sometimes when you reduce your caloric intake, your body tries to adjust and conserve calories. You may need to eat several small meals every day to let your body know it doesn't have to slow down your metabolic rate. You may also have developed a thyroid problem that would affect your metabolic rate as well. If you have any other symptoms, you should see your doctor.

Could be allergies: Toddlers can have environmental allergies. Trauma to the eye or a bit of dirt stuck in the eye would likely result in him complaining of pain, so this is reassuring. Try Zaditor eye drops (over the counter). The antihistamine you gave should also help. Eye redness and swelling with complaints of pain or discharge should always prompt a visit to the doctor.
