Find a specialist: You need to find a specialist in your area. You can check the american academy of orofacial pain website and check for a specialist in your area. The add is www.Aaop.Org.
A 34-year-old male asked:
Dr. Francisco Alencar jr
Pain Management 19 years experience
Yes and maybe: Central sensitization can be reversed most of the times. Sometimes depending on the patient and pain duration, it can create a nerve pain named neuropathic pain. Lyrica (pregabalin) can be used but a chronic pain specialist would evaluate each case and prescribe a treatment plan accordingly. For sure sleeping with quality(not waking up feeling tired) is necessary to revert central sensitization.
A 32-year-old member asked:
Dr. Francisco Alencar jr
Pain Management 19 years experience
Yes: Chronic pain is not pain with longer duration only. It involves changes in sleep quality, that may lead to anxiety and depression plus an overstimulation of the central nervous system called "central sensitization". This means that changes occur in the level of chemicals and usually medications that are very effective for acute pain (opioids for ex) will not be as effective. Other medication taken.
