See yourPediatrician: I get this question often. Both can cause discomfort. Often the ear infection will wake up your child at night. I always tell parents to visit the child's pediatrician first. If nothing is found wrong and the ears then we can assume teething. We always "blame" the teeth last for the discomfort. We would not want to miss treating an ear infection by thinking it's just teething.

It can be..: Teething does not cause diarrhea or diaper rash. It can cause a mild fever up to 101°F (38°C). Mild symptoms that gradually improve usually are nothing to worry about and may even be related to a viral infection or other condition. Severe or ongoing symptoms should be closely watched and discussed with your doctor.
