About

Bio

I am committed to providing high quality, compassionate Orthopedic care to patients of all ages with a special interest in recreational, high school, and college athletes. I completed my residency training at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where I was exposed to state of the art, evidence based techniques in joint preservation and reconstruction for arthritis patients, nonoperative and operative treatment of shoulder, knee, hip, ankle, and elbow patients, and care of fracture patients. I went on to complete an additional subspecialized year of fellowship training at Washington University focusing on nonoperative and operative care of athletes at all levels, with particular focus on cutting edge arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Specialties
Doctors may have more than one area of specialty interest. Board certification in a specialty area means the doctor has completed formal training and has practice experience in that specialty, and has passed the certification examination from the corresponding accredited medical specialty board.

Hmmm...: It sounds like patellofemoral pain. Doing nothing is an option if the pain is mild and doesn't interrupt your desired activities. It's probably worth seeing a musculoskeletal specialist to get evaluated though, as there may be some simple things (an icing program, rehabilitation program, etc) that can make things better and to rule out any structural problems that may need more involved treatment.

It all depends....: If it's an old injury and it was just found on an x-ray then nothing may have to be done. Te old chip may be irrelevant. It depends on your exam and your x-rays (possibly an MRI although not usually). It may be as "simple" as an ankle sprain, with ice, elevation, possible brief immobilization, and proper rehabilitation. It's also possible it may require surgery, worth getting an eval and options.

It all depends....: Did this just happen ? If it's an old injury and it was just found on an x-ray then nothing may have to be done. If this is a new injury, a lot depends on your exam and your x-rays, your age, activity level, medical problems (like diabetes, etc). If its a stable injury a protective boot or walking cast for a few weeks, if it's unstable and/or the ankle structure is disrupted you may need surgery.
