Stress/preg symptoms: Good morning! Extreme stress may cause missed periods, e.g. physical (i.e. frequent/intense exercising) and most commonly nutritional stress (i.e. abnormally low weight/BMI, like with anorexia). Emotional stress on its own uncommonly leads to missed periods. Stress may cause pregnancy-like symptoms. Especially if missed periods are new, an evaluation by your doc is wise. Good luck!

FSH surge: Hi Teresa,
FSH production is dependent on GnRH pulsatility, but the midcycle rise/surge in FSH is partially or perhaps totally dependent on the preovulatory rise in progesterone level.

Starting Clomid (clomiphene): Good morning, Irene,
Before starting Clomid (clomiphene), (clomiphene) most practitioners will check progesterone (which indicates whether ovulation has occurred or not) and hCG (pregnancy test) levels. Estradiol (showing possible follicle activity) and ultrasound evaluation are also commonly done. If you had these done and they suggest the beginning of a cycle, Clomid (clomiphene) is ok to start. Please talk with your doc to discuss.
