It depends.: Two critical issues. Volume of air and where the air goes. For example if a small amount of air enters a vein and travels through an intact heart to the lungs it is trapped by the lungs and causes no problem. However if the air embolism is caused by a burst air sac in the lung as can happen in scuba, or if there is "hole" (patent foramen) in the heart, a small amount of air (<1 oz) can be fatal.

Swelling/pain/inflam: Sclerosing lymphangitis is a process in which the lymphatic channels become scared and the surrounding tissues inflammed. This most commonly affects the extremities which can become painful and swollen. Use of compression garments and early use of antibiotics when infection occurs are the keys to controlling this problem.

Yes: Beta blockers of which atenolol is one can certainly make it worse. This is a known phenomenon. Calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, amlodipine) would be better options depending on what you need it for. Talk to your doc.
