Dr. Birchfield was recommended to me buy many of his peers to see regarding a genetic blood mutation I was diagnosed with. Along with being an expert in oncology he is also a renowned hematologist. During my first visits he actively listened to me and addressed all of me concerns/questions regarding the blood mutation. In the subsequent years I developed a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) following a surgical procedure. After multiple visits to other local hospitals which offered no treatment recommendation I went to see Dr. Birchfield. That same day he scheduled me to be admitted for surgery to remove the clot. During my stay at the hospital he came by everyday to address any questions and to inform me on my progress. I really appreciated the fact that his visits did not seem rushed and he took the time to listen. Dr. Brichfield's actions resulted in the removal of my clot and saved my life. Words cannot express how grateful I am for that. Yes, I would strongly recommend Dr.Birchfield to anyone.
George treated my stage four cancer successfully and encouraged me in the fight for my life. Very knowledgeable, and yet halfway through treatment was willing to ask me to get a second opinion, just to be sure that the treatment was properly targeted. He was always aware of side effects and has the sensitivity to know when to change chemo to lessen side effects. He has continued to monitor my condition in case of relapse or complications and was able to detect anemia long before it was diagnosable by my primary physician. He is a caring human being and the return check-ins are thorough and enjoyable. The nurses at the center are also excellent, caring and professional. It was a team effort that allowed me to come through the intense chemotherapy and regain my life.
When I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2009 at 46 years of age, it was a blow to my whole family. Having an excellent oncologist who I felt confident in as well as comfortable talking to was a very important foundation to my treatment. Dr. Birchfield directed my care with ease, and the amazing staff in his office were always there with a smile and gentle encouragement. 2 years of remission, and I still enjoy my visits to his office, though I expect they will be fewer as I maintain my excellent health.
Dr Birchfield treated me last year for Anal Cancer, administering two week long Chemo treatments and he made an overall miserable experience both understandable and personal. I have been cancer free for 18 months now, and credit this to Dr Birchfield and his compassionate care.
I haven been Dr. Birchfields patient for 7 years, he is compassionate, answers all questions and concerns and has helped me and my family understand my condition and ongoing treatments. I would recommend Dr. Birchfield to anyone in my family and friends.
Saw doctor for breast cancers...he was kind, answered questions and never made me feel he was rushed...nursing staff was caring, attentive and made me feel comfortable...newer reception people seemed unsure and a bit slow at times.
