Dr. Hatzis is a board certified Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon. He was born in New York City and grew up Bergen County, New Jersey. Dr. Hatzis earned his Bachelor of Arts at Rutgers College and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Columbia University. Dr. Hatzis was awarded membership in Omikron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honors Society. He was accepted to The University of Texas at Southwestern Medical School and the prestigious Parkland Memorial Hospital program in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. After earning his Medical Degree he then completed a one-year Internship in General Surgery. Following this, Dr. Hatzis continued his training, completing a Residency in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery which included rotations at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Children’s Hospital in Dallas, John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dallas. Dr. Hatzis has extensive training in the full scope of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.

Sedation: Most commonly, patients are sedated for wisdom teeth extractions with a drug cocktail including a benzodiazepine (ex. Versed), narcotic (ex. Fentanyl), proposal and/or ketamine administered via an iv. Depth of sedation may vary from light to moderate to deep to general anesthesia.
