Specialties
Doctors may have more than one area of specialty interest. Board certification in a specialty area means the doctor has completed formal training and has practice experience in that specialty, and has passed the certification examination from the corresponding accredited medical specialty board.

We're all different…: People often go through multiple drugs before finding the best one or combination. You must have a full evaluation to make sure the diagnosis is correct - in other words, you might not be responding because you haven't found the right medication yet, or because the diagnosis is wrong or incomplete. Remember that medication is often just part of treatment - talk therapy maybe important as well.

Paradoxical reaction: Some people do experience agitation or arousal in response to benzodiazepines, including diazepam/valium & alprazolam/xanax. Sometimes this is because of partial sedation or loss of focus, which can be upsetting; this should improve with dose reduction. Sometimes it is due to impaired ability to read/respond to your surroundings, which can be frightening.

Two disorders: Tourette's syndrome involves making involuntary movements, sounds or speech, sometimes associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Asperger's syndrome involves difficulty reading & responding to social cues. Some as patients have unusual movements - arm flapping & others - but these are quite different from ts. Some people do have both conditions.
