I completed my undergraduate degree in pharmacy at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 1980. Medical School was also in Ann Arbor thru 1984. My residency training was at the Indiana University Medical School in Indianapolis and completed in 1989. Then I studied at The University of Toronto for fellowship subspecialty training in adult and pediatric spine surgery. I was on the teaching and clinical staff of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Indiana University Medical School until 1999. Then, I joined OrthoIndy. I am in full time practice with OrthIndy now.
My practice is a very limited subspecialty practice focused only on the diagnosis and surgical treatment of spine disorders in adults and children. Spine disorders include treatment of disc problems and stenosis of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine including microsurgery and "fusion" procedures. But also treatment of spine fractures, spine tumors, and tumors both inside and outside the spine fluid sac or the dura.
My research and special interests include:
-development of new products for personal surgical lighting, illumination, magnification and visualization worn on the surgeon themself in the operating room.
-surgical microphotography and macrophotography
-development of minimally invasive spine plates for the cervical spine
-treatment of intradural and extradural compressive tumors of the spine
