I was born and raised in Wisconsin, moved to Seattle in 1987 to escape the Wisconsin winters and to meet my future wife, Paula, who is our office manager.
I've always had a strong desire to 'give back' to society so it was natural that once I became a dentist (and loving to travel), I sought out overseas volunteer work. Typically my wife and I go to Guatemala annually with a volunteer medical/dental team called Hands of Love. Humanitarian dentistry has also taken us to Israel, Bolivia, Mexico, Thailand, Ecuador, Moldova, Romania, Jamaica, and Haiti. It's personally gratifying, helps those in need, and, is simply, the "right" thing to do! I also love teaching students in the Restorative Clinic at the University of Washington.
In my spare time, I enjoy running (I'm a marathoner), volunteering at church, working in the yard, travelling, watching sports (Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs being my favorites!) and sharing time with Paula.
