After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology graduating Phi Beta Kappa Dr. Loury received his medical degree at CU with honors being elected into Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Residency at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD which consistently is ranked as one of the best, if not the best, hospital and otolaryngology department in the US by US News and World Report. After residency, Dr. Loury remained on the Hopkins faculty for almost six years. While there he was active in research in the olfactory system and otolaryngology problems affecting the elderly. Following the departure of Dr. David Kennedy Dr. Loury concentrated on sinus and nasal disease and surgery teaching numerous courses on basic and advanced sinus surgery techniques.
He returned to Colorado in 1994 establishing a private practice managing all aspects of ear, nose, and throat disorders in pediatric and adult patients. Dr. Loury is particularly focused on offering to his patients current diagnostic techniques and treatments, bringing the research bench to the bedside. He is one of the first to perform image guided sinus surgery and balloon sinuplasty in Colorado. Other advances brought to northern Colorado patients are steroid middle ear perfusions for sudden hearing loss and Ménière's disease, tongue advancement for sleep apnea, laryngeal nerve monitoring during thyroid surgery, Coblation tonsillectomy, and novel ways to manage chronic nasal conditions associated with dryness.
Dr. Loury continues to be recognized for his quality and compassionate care. He is listed in "Best Doctors in pAmerica" and "America's Best Doctors", and has received the Patient's Choice Award. He is active in the Fort Collins Family Medicine Program, teaching their residents about ENT diagnosis and treatment and has received their Clinical Faculty Teaching Award. He is a member of the medical executive committees of the Surgery Center of Fort Collins, Facial Trauma LLC, and Christ Clinic, a newly formed volunteer effort among Christian physicians, nurses, and staff to meet the medical needs of those in northern Colorado who have no access to health care.
He is delightfully married to his wife since 1980 and has four beloved children. He enjoys his church, cycling, skiing, and watching his children's activities.
