Are braces necesisary before underbite surgery if teeth are already alligned straight?
Most Likely YES
When undergoing underbite surgery, braces serve 2 purposes:
1) to put your teeth in the best position within the jaw bone (they usually have tipped to accomodate the underbite)
2) to stabilize the jaws in the correct position when the surgeon moves them in the or
until recently, all surgical cases were done with braces.
Now, some can be done with invisalign and temporary bone pins (tads)!
