Doctor Q&A for Dr. Jeff Kimble

A 31-year-old male asked:

No: Hopefully you can keep this tooth and not need an implant later. If you need an implant on an adjacent area, the small amount of bone taken off with crown lengthening won't be enough to Prohibit implant placement.

A type of porcelain.: There are a few different types of porcelain we use in dentistry. One of them can be used to make a very thin veneer that doesn't require much, if any, tooth reduction. Dura thin is a brand of that type of veneer. They can last a long time if done properly and you take care of them. Cost varies depending where you live. $700-$1500 or more, per tooth.
A 18-year-old female asked:

No : Each treatment appointment will be slightly shorter, but the time for the teeth to become straight will be the same. Sometimes putting braces on both upper and lower arch of teeth are easier for the orthodontist or dentist to move the teeth into proper position, even if you just want one arch to straighten.

Depends: They can start to erupt into your mouth at a very early age. I have taken wisdom teeth out on a 13 year old girl before, but the average is late teens.

Yes: Of course. If the tooth is really loose it can. You shouldn't let your teeth get to that point, but they can.

Possibly: Possibly, but a panogram radiograph taken by a dentist would be more definitive. Soreness in the jaw and ear pain can also be symptoms.
