Depression/Light: Sadness in the am like that could be the result of everything from a normal grief reaction, to depression. Also dreams during our sleep can lead to certain emotional states when waking. A thorough evaluation by a psychiatrist or psychologist would be helpful. A newer researched possibility has to do with our body's natural rhythms in response to light. Some have had success with light box therapy.

Mind/Body: One approach is to find a therapist who is willing to work from the mindset that the mannerisms have some emotional content or "message" for you, and working to resolve this. However, it would of course be beneficial to be checked out medically to rule out things like tourette's, adhd, dystonia, etc. Another approach would be to seek out a coach who specializes in self-presentation.

Mindfulness Meditate: This is a very terrifying time for you, i can see that. One approach to helping you to "detach" in a way from your fears is through a practice called mindfulness meditation. In this practice, you learn to merely observe the fears, thoughts, images that may be troubling, and just let them come and go. This gives you a separtion from that which troubles you. This does take practice, though!
