Treatments: Nerve pain from diabetic peripheral neuropathy may respond to medications such as gabapentin, lyrica, (pregabalin) lidoderm, topical medications, compound creams, tens unit usage. As a last step, spinal cord stimulation or other devices may mask the pain via an electrical impulse applied on the nerve. Optimal blood sugar control may help prevent progression of the disease.

Rest: If your back ache is new, heat/ice, stress reduction, proper sleep, a few days rest and allowing your body to heal may be all you need. If it is chronic back pain, try physical therapy and non-narcotic medications. If your family doctor has prescribed these and no progress has been made, consider seeing a pain or spine specialist to investigate further.

Unlikely: Antibiotics are used to treat a bladder infection but if used for long periods of time or high doses it can lead to a loss of normal vaginal bacteria. E.Coli can then start accumulating in the area. Also, the bladder infection itself may be worsening and that can cause increased pelvic, abdominal, and sometimes low back pain.
