Not right away: generally I recommend that for 2 weeks following a diverticulitis episode, my patients remain on a low residue diet. Which is a diet low in fiber. Oatmeal tends to have a high fiber content and I would only start that after 2 weeks.

Probably : cranberry and prune juice can help with constipation. However I would recommend fiber supplementation instead. Metamucil or Konsyl works great

Hernia: Among the many things that can cause abdominal pain i would consider the possibility that you have an umbilical hernia. That would be a common cause of pain in the navel especially when bearing down.

Depends: whether or not you need stitches really depends on the depth of the wound. I would have a trained medical professional examine the wound and determine if stitches are necessary.

Possibly a hernia: one of the most common causes of pain in the lower abdomen and groin area is a hernia. You may or may not see a bulge with the hernia. Most often the symptoms are worse with heavy lifting or strenuous activity. Usually a good physical exam by a surgeon is diagnostic.

Don't worry: Some women do have left or right sided pain with periods, although this is more common mid-cycle when one ovulates. If there is a pattern of this pain every other month and then it goes away, I would not worry. Women can have unusual pain with periods. Everyone is different, and this is not a sign of anything dangerous.
