Never: That's a really bad idea. Scratches and contacts both increase the chance of a really bad infection and combine the 2 and you're asking for trouble.

Pretty common: Twitching is usually due to irritation, most commonly dry eye. Use artificial tears (preservative free) a lot and it should get better.
