Several ways: Obesity damages kidneys in several ways. Body fat produces hormones called adipokines, Angiotensinogen is an example of such hormones. angiotensinogen is converted into angiotensin II which causes increased blood pressure and volume. Increased blood pressure directly and adversely effects kidney function. Obesity can increase the risk of kidney stones which can cause damage to kid

Yes and No: For most people being overweight or obese is a risk factor for developing coronary arterial disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea and other chronic medical problems. For a certain population of patients suffering from heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and renal failure it appears to be advantageous to be overweight.

For some yes.: Patients with chronic conditions such as congestive heart failure, COPD, chronic renal failure it appears that being overweight and mildly obese associated with improved longevity compared with normal weight patients. This phenomenon has been termed the “obesity paradox” . For everyone else obesity is still considered to be a major risk factor for cardiovascular and peripheral vascular disease.
