I'm a Primary Care Sports Medicine doctor practicing in Middle Tennessee. I completed my Sports Medicine fellowship training at the University of Notre Dame and currently work at Southern Sports Medicine Institute in Gallatin, TN.Biography-Board certified in both family medicine and sports medicine-Trained as a team doctor for the University of Notre Dame-Treats non-surgical sports and musculoskeletal injuries-Director of Sports Medicine at Sumner Regional Medical Center-Completed specialized training in concussion management, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and Platelet Rich Plasma therapyThrough my residency and fellowship training I worked as team physician for several High School and College teams including Penn High School in South Bend which has over 3600 students. During my fellowship training at the University of Notre Dame I acted as a team physician for the football, basketball, women’s soccer, track and cross country teams. Since I am board certified in both family and sports medicine I can provide comprehensive care to athletes of all ages. Sumner Regional Medical Center recently named me the Director of Sports Medicine, and I'm excited to work closely with many of the local high schools and their athletic trainers in caring for our high school athletes. I treat fractures, tendonitis, arthritis, muscle and ligament injuries and any other musculoskeletal problems. I am committed to staying up to date with the latest in injury prevention and rehabilitation. My partners, Drs. Gautsch and Grutter are both excellent Orthopaedic Surgeons and are also board certified in Sports Medicine. If something needs surgery we can quickly get you in to see them and get it taken care of. I also offer new non-surgical treatment options like Platelet Rich Plasma therapy which helps accelerate the bodies own natural healing process. I have been trained in and use musculoskeletal ultrasound to image muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints. This is helpful in diagnosing many injuries and also when treating with an injection as we can guide the needle right to the area of injury. Concussion management has also been an interest of mine. Together with Sumner Regional Medical Center we have successfully implemented computer testing for all of the local high school athletes (3 counties) which is very helpful when returning an athlete safely back to play after a concussion. As a lifelong athlete myself, I can understand the important role athletics can play in teaching life lessons. I will utilize all resources available to get an athlete back competing as quickly as it is safely possible.
