Dr. Benson is a Board Certified psychiatrist. The "long version" of this certification is that he is a Dipomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (1991), with Certification in the Sub-specialty of Forensic Psychiatry. (1999).
He currently works for the CA Dept of Corrections and Rehabilitation seeing outpatients at Parole Clinics in the community.
Dr Benson also maintains a private practice, part time, at Health Group Psychological Services, Inc. in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. 909-944-1717 for appointments. Work with many forms of insurance; call and ask.
Forensic psychiatry experience included ten full years at the USA's largest Forensic facility -- Southern California's Patton State Hospital. Dr. Benson chaired the "Pharmacy and Therapeutics" Committee at Patton for nearly 5 years, overseeing a large amount of quality of care data and practices. He has experience with prison and correctional psychiatry from one year at the California's Maximum Security Pelican Bay State Prison, and earlier, while on medical school faculty at Medical College of Georgia Dept of Psychiatry, provided psychiatric consultation and treatment at Reidsville State Prison, Georgia. [That's where the original movie, "The Longest Yard" was filmed.]
Dr. Benson has enjoyed 3 affiliations with medical schools, and over the years has taught numerous medical students, Resident physicians in Psychiatry and Family Practice, as well as supervising Fellows in Forensic Psyhiatry. He enjoys public speaking, and gives numerous lectures to professional and community groups on a variety of topics in Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry.
