Caution: Some herbal remedies (st.John's wort) have been shown to help with some forms of depression, for example. The main problem is to have the right diagnosis and then having someone who's knowledgeable monitoring progress and watching for possible side effects. If you ask physicians, we will always favor treatment under a qualified health care professional. It's just the safest alternative.

Fear of persecution: The differences can be subtle at times. However, paranoid schizophrenia presents with delusions of persecution and auditory hallucinations without many of the other problems (thought disorder, bizarre affect or behaviors). On first listen, the delusions may be plausible, although they tend to be pervasive and affect the way the person relates to others (mistrust or even aggression).

See your doctor: Although anxiety can cause a variety of physical symptoms, flashing lights isn't a common one. It is important to make sure that there isn't a different problem causing the symptoms. High blood pressure, even if worsened by anxiety, needs to be addressed medically and can cause that kind of symptom. Migraines and seizures can do the same. Check with your doctor, it could be more than anxiety.
