John T. Klimas, M.D. is a board certified allergist who has been in practice for 34 years with the Carolina Asthma and Alergy Center in Charlotte, N.C. Educated at Rutgers University, medical school at SUNY at Buffalo, he did his internship and residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and allergy/immunology training at Duke. He has been the president of the North Carolina Allergy Society, Southeastern Asthma and Allergy Society, and Mecklenburg County Medical Society. He is a fellow in the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology. He is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.
Dr. Klimas has been named a Top Doc in allergy 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008,2009,2010, 2011, named one of most influential physicians in 2010 and has won awards for his comunity service. He started Physicians Reach Out in Charlotte, a program serving the uninsured of Mecklenburg County where 1700 physicians and providers donate their services free of charge. Over $40 million has been donated since 2004.
He has been married for 41 years to Kathleen Werthwein Klimas , has two lovely daughters and three adorable grandchildren that he shamelessly spoils.
