R Bart Sangal, MD, is Director of the Sleep & Attention Disorders Institute in Troy, MI. This is one of the first freestanding accredited sleep disorders centers of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
He was Chair of the AASM Health Policy Committee from 1994-1996, a member of the Board of Directors from 1996-1999, and a member of the Committee to Revise the ICSD from 2002 to 2004. He received its Mark Hatfield Public Policy Award in 2006.
Dr. Sangal received his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and his residency training at Johns Hopkins University Hospitals in Baltimore, MD. He is Board Certified in Sleep Medicine as well as in EEG & Neurophysiology. He is also a Certified Physician Investigator by the Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators. His clinical and research interests include excessive daytime sleepiness, sleep apnea, insomnia, and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Clinical EEG and Neuroscience.
