Vincent P. de Luise M.D., F.A.C.S., is a board-certified ophthalmologist, and fellowship-trained corneal, LASIK and cataract surgeon. He is a phi beta kappa and magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University and an alpha omega alpha honor society graduate of Weill Cornell University Medical College. He did his ophthalmology residency training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami School of Medicine, which was ranked No., 1 again this year by US News and World Report. He is fellowship training in corneal disease and corneal transplantation surgery at The Proctor Foundation of the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine. Dr. Luise is an assistant clinical professor of ophthalmology at Yale University School of Medicine. He is assistant editor of the international journal Cornea. He is on the editorial board of the journal Eye World, the trade journal of The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr de Luise has served on numerous national committees for the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) evaluating LASIK and astigmatism, and was a board member and writer of the AAO BCSC textbook on Corneal and External Disease from 1996-2002. He has been an investigator in several FDA phase II and phase III clinical trials studying ophthalmic antibiotics, non-steroidal inflammatory agents, and dry eye therapies. Dr. de Luise is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), a senior honor award recipient of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He has given the instructional course on herpes zoster ophthalmicus at the annual meeting of the AAO for the last 25 years. Dr. de Luise serves as education chair and moderator for the physicians’ programs of the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians (CSEP). also a manuscript reviewer for Archives of Ophthalmology, American Journal of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology. and Cornea, Dr de Luise has lectured nationally and internationally on ophthalmic antibiosis, ocular NSAIDs, herpes zoster ophthalmicus, glaucoma, dry eye and ocular surface disease. Dr. de Luise has been selected by his peers to be included in "Best Doctors in America" since 2004 and has been named to the “Best Doctors” advisory board. He has published over 25 articles in the peer-reviewed ophthalmic literature and has edited a textbook on peripheral corneal diseases. Dr. de Luise is a past chairman of Department of Ophthalmology at Waterbury Hospital and Saint Mary’s Hospital. His clinical research projects include dry eye disease, pterygium surgery, topical ocular corticosteroids, eye infections and nutritional and integrative eye health. Dr de Luise has maintained a lifelong passion for classical music and the fine arts. In 1986, he co-founded the noontime classical music concert at the annual meeting of the AAO. In 1991, he organized, played and lectured at the Connecticut Mozart festival, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the composer’s death.. Dr de Luise lectures frequently on music and the arts.
