About

Bio

Having been a teacher in the past, I am committed to educating my patients about their health and empowering them in their health care decisions. I truly enjoy being an OB/GYN which affords me the opportunity to work with women throughout all of life's stages. Each stage, beginning with adolescence, throughout the reproductive years, and concluding with menopause provides unique challenges to offer guidance

Specialties
Doctors may have more than one area of specialty interest. Board certification in a specialty area means the doctor has completed formal training and has practice experience in that specialty, and has passed the certification examination from the corresponding accredited medical specialty board.

No: It is uncommon to have complications from amniocentesis or cvs. There is a small increased risk for miscarriage from these procedures. The physician who is performing the procedure can give their rates, usually less than 1% for an amniocentesis and 1% for cvs. The acog website has a nice handout on these procedures.

10 movements in< 2hr: After 28 weeks, movements are counted and reassuring if there are 10 in 2 hours or less. If there are not, then you should notify your doctor right away. See my website library for more detail and a chart that can be used. http://www.womenshealthfremont.com/health-library-pregnancy-womens-health-specialists-bay-area.htm.

It's best to wait.: Many women feel "done" being pregnant by 37 weeks when they have reached full term. That being said, given the choice between a healthy baby and one with a chance of having serious medical issues, most would agree not to do anything. So most doctors will avoid stripping membranes before 39 weeks due to this potential risk unless there is a medical reason that outweighs the risk.
