Michael J. Coogan, M.D., FAAP attained a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of New Orleans and earned his M.D. degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine, New Orleans. He completed his residency in pediatrics on the LSU Service at Charity Hospital, New Orleans, where he was co-chief resident. Dr. Coogan has been in private practice since 1976 and has served as the Chief of Pediatrics for Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He is a past president of the Baton Rouge Pediatric Society. Dr. Coogan has served as Board Chair of the Woman’s Hospital Foundation. He currently serves on Governor Jindal's Children’s Cabinet Advisory Board. His peers have consistently voted him one of the Best Doctors in America® since 1996. Dr. Coogan is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and is a member of their Sections on Infectious Diseases and Hospital Medicine.
