There are ways: No douching, reduce/don't use tampons, or excessive cleansing, and use clothing that allows good air-exchange. Also, don't use antibiotics unless you really have to--antibiotics kill off good bacteria and allow bad ones to grow and cause bv. Probiotic use may help.
