Whiplash Injury (Overview)

Applied to the neck or cervical region that overcomes the strength of the neck's structures resulting in damage to those structures ranging from muscles, ligaments, joints, discs, bones or nerve tissue. Most typical injuries just involve the soft tissues & the force is applied usually from behind as in a rear end collision from a car accident.

Get diagnosis first: Be efficient, and get answers as to why your injury did not fully heal. Not uncommon is an injury to the brachial plexus from shoulder strap, with eventual scarring, called thoracic outlet syndrome. Therapy does help, but is a specific approach, such as felderkreis work. Give it time: Since you didn't give an etiology (ie car accident or fall, etc) it's difficult to say. If this is a simple grade 1 concussion, then give it time. It may take a few months for your head to clear. No specific therapy is indicated. No chiropractic for a while though. ...Read more
