Friday I was diagnosed with a broken blood vessel or vein on the top of my foot after no recollection of injury. Now, it is bruised and the vessel is swollen and purplish. The bruise itself is spread and greenish. Can this happen without trauma?

Damage control.: Don't kid yourself, almost everything you do causes some sort of trauma to your body. Thankfully the vast majority of the trauma is microscopic in size. Your body is able to deal with the damage without incidence and in all likely-hood you would not even notice the reparative processes taking place. Epistaxis. : Stress is unlikely to be the reason for this nose bleed; it may prolong the nose bleed if associated with long standing high blood pressure, but does not cause it on its own. Most common cause is nose picking. Many local and systemic conditions can cause nose bleed. If it persists, see your fp or ent. ...Read more

See Ent if persists: Bleeding from the nose has multiple possible etiologies including, but not limited to being on blood thinners, nasal trauma, inflamed/infected/dry nasal lining, & nasal mass. If bleeding is mild and stops with nose squeezing pressure, try nasal saline rinses 4x/day, humidified air at night, & Bacitracin to septum nightly.
