Rib Injury Cause Pericarditis
Can a rib injury cause pericarditis? I accidently cracked my ribs from falling at work, i was diagnoised with pericarditis. I heard that the cuase of pericarditis is hard to determine, but are these two incidents correlated?
Diagnosed with idiopat. Pericarditis 4 months ago. Still feel terrible. Extreme fatigue and severe back and rib pain. What could be the causes? I'm 25
Rheumatologic : Depending on how much work up they did and then called it idiopathic pericarditis( which is by definition a diagnosis of exclusion) . Is there a possible connection between pericarditis and pinched nerve(s) in your back? Had peri 8 weeks ago and my back/rib cage still hurt pretty bad
Yes it is a possible: That there could be referred pain or that you may have some muscular pain or myalgias from your infection in that region. It could also be just muscular pain from being inactive while you were sick. Mid july i had a pericarditis attack. Have seen a cardiologist, but am still suffering from sore ribs and swollen lymph nodes under arms. ?
EKG came back High Risk Operation.ST Elevation, consider early repolarization, pericarditis or injury. ST&T wave abnormal consider anterior ischemia?
Need further workup: Need to get evaluated for ischemic heart disease myocardial perfusion scan if done and called for this ischemia ,need to further evaluate with cardiac catheterization and or CTA of coronary vessels to clarify the abnormality especially if you are going for a surgical procedure ...Read more
Why do i keep getting recurring episodes of pericarditis? Will it cause harm to me later on in life?
Pericarditis: Relapses can occur w/ idiopathic ("we don't know what caused it") pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac around the heart. Treatment w/ steroids may increase the chance of chronic relapses, so trying to treat it w/ nonsteroidal drugs is probably best. Other causes of pericarditis include autoimmune disorders eg, lupus.
