Diagnosed with idiopat. Pericarditis 4 months ago. Still feel terrible. Extreme fatigue and severe back and rib pain. What could be the causes? I'm 25

Rheumatologic : Depending on how much work up they did and then called it idiopathic pericarditis( which is by definition a diagnosis of exclusion) . You should ask if they ran all the rheumatologic work up including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, sjogrens etc. You should consider seeing a rheumatologist if you have not seen one yet. ...Read more

Yes it is a possible: That there could be referred pain or that you may have some muscular pain or myalgias from your infection in that region. It could also be just muscular pain from being inactive while you were sick. The other remote possibility is that the infection may have spread to the spine if it was a bacterial infection so if the pain is increasing or persisting tell your physician. ...Read more

Long time healing: When lymph nodes swell, they take a long time : many month, even up to a year, to become normal again. Pericarditis has no connection to sore ribs. They're two separate issues. ...Read more

Pericarditis: Relapses can occur w/ idiopathic ("we don't know what caused it") pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac around the heart. Treatment w/ steroids may increase the chance of chronic relapses, so trying to treat it w/ nonsteroidal drugs is probably best. Other causes of pericarditis include autoimmune disorders eg, lupus.
