Hard to say: for sure without knowing the extent of the injury and your medical conditions but if there is no functional deficit and it is just sensory I would say a reasonable chance for improvement. Psysio may help but what have your doctors told you? ...Read more

Need examination: You should be examined by a neurologist in all likelihood and very possibly you may benefit from an EMG which is an electrical test. Also, an imaging study such as CT or MRI may be requested to look the neck region. Try and discover (and document) what makes the shooting pains better and what makes them worse to tell the doctor. Possible CTS: Oftentimes patients who have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome will wake up with hand pain involving their thumb and the next 2-3 fingers in one or both hands.
