Worms: Because of the anal itching, I presume that you're experiencing pinworms. These usually clear easily in adults simply from good hygiene after bowel movements so that you don't keep reinfecting your self by ingesting worm eggs. To relieve anal itching, apply a cortisone type cream to the anus without letting your fingers touch the anus. See your MD if nausea and fatigue continue.? pregnancy possibl ...Read more

What is the best course of treatment? I'm 24, female, no prior neck injury I was involved in a rear-end car accident two weeks ago. We were hit at high speed while we were stopped at a light. 24 hours after the initial ER visit (discharged for whiplash),

Wow.: Wow. I'm sorry to hear of your injury, and understand how what appears to be conflicting opinions make you a little nuts, especially when you're in pain (and numbness).

It's not "right" versus "wrong" here, though. Your gp seems to be looking to treat you conservatively with steroids, probably in an effort to shrink any swelling in the discs which are pressing up on nerves, which is causing the pain and numbness. Surgery on cervical discs isn't something you rush into, at least not without exhausting all conservative measures first. I would certainly let your gp know of any side effects the Prednisone is causing. You may also want to try a course of acupuncture, which works particularly well for this sort of thing. If you continue to show no improvement, by all means, get the mri. You may also want to consider a steroid injection into the disc (sounds worse than it is).

Whiplash can be an exasperating problem, and it may take a number of treatment modalities to get you relief.

Good luck. ...Read more

accident back in March. While I was stopped I was rear ended at about 70 neck came back mild bulging c-5 thru c-7 doc claims normal??? In pain a lot

Whiplash: This is a classic whiplash injury of the neck and may have long-lasting effects. For this reason and for treatment and follow-up, consult an orthopedic specialist, neurologist or neurosurgeon for evaluation and advice. Physical therapy, soft neck brace, anti-inflammatory medications like Advil or Aleve, and muscle relaxants may be prescribed. ...Read more

Are there any orthopedic doctors in my area that will accept us (due to a motor vehicle accident) with no insurance? We were rear ended while we were at a complete stop and we are still having back problems but we have no medical insurance and our attorne

Unfortunately: Unfortunately many physicians do not electively participate when motor vehicle insurance is involved and it is not an acute emergency situation for which they are covering.

The insurance company often pays, but attorneys will place a lean on the money, collect it and then try to bargain with the doctor for reduced reimbursement. At other times the insurance company pays the patient directly and the doctor then has to try to get the patient to pay the bill. I am not saying it is correct or right but after this happens 200 times its an impetus to just disengage from the system. Its part of the entire tangled web of insurance and health care that exists and has existed for years. It has nothing at all to do with romneycare or obamacare or any legislation regarding the delivery of health care. Its an entirely insurance and legal driven issue. However a lot of attorneys know doctors that they work with for injuries and id assume most injury attorneys have a short list of mds in their area
maybe you should be asking this on the legal side of the website. ...Read more

Severe pain on my right buttock. No injuries. Every time I do back, triceps workouts the pain starts hours later! Is it serious should I keep going gym?

Butt pain: Interesting that it doesn't happen at the time of lifting but instead happens hours later. Does anything else bring it on? Buttock pain can be from your back, your si joint, the buttock itself, and your hip. If you see a doctor for this I would do whatever provokes it a few hours before so the the evaluation will be while you are hurting. May add clarity to the diagnosis. ...Read more

Could a rear-end accident cause loss of lumbar lordosis?

Could a rear-end accident cause loss of lumbar lordosis?

Yes: While it can cause it from a few things that are more serious and would be causing excessive pain, the main cause of this is from muscle spasms between vertebral structures. As those muscles spasm, they tighten, pulling the lumbar vertebra tight and decreasing the curvature. Discuss with your physician the right type of therapy or intervention for you personally. ...Read more

Have sore to touch spots on left side only in buttock, lower back, upper back, neck n chest. No injury or exercise. What could it be?

All on left side?: You're young at 28, but a pattern of spots on one side of the body suggests shingles or herpes zoster. If so, you could develop more pain than soreness. Rear ended 2 months ago, shoulder fracture (not broken). A week ago a jump caused shoulder pain. Now tingling in arms and legs. Because of the injury?

Yes, it is possible: That the recent trauma is the cause of the nerve impingement. Nerve impingement can be caused by being sandwiched between two spinal bones, pressed by a bulging disc or encroached upon by bony overgrowth. Rec.: see an interventional pain management specialist for further investigation. ...Read more

Rear ended 8 days ago, hurt my back today (history of back probs) could it be from being hit didn't damage car.

Unlikely: Pain 8 days after an accident is not likely to be related. Typical muscle symptoms may take a day or two to worsen (think muscle sore after a workout). With a history of some back problems and spontaneous onset today, suspect it is your usual problem revisited. For episodic back pain, nsaids/tylenol, ice/heat, salonpas hot patches helpful. Pilates/yoga/piyo great preventative exercises. ...Read more
