Posterior ankle pain w/ plantar flexion; Constant feeling of instability; joint feels like it needs to pop; History of ankle sprains. Suggestions?
Physical exam: An xray will not directly show a patellar tendon rupture, however, typically your knee cap will be further up your leg than normal. The xray will also show if a piece of bone was pulled off of the patella or tibia. The diagnosis is made clinically - you cannot raise your leg straight up while keeping your knee straight. You may also feel a defect in the tendon. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

? Of mid-20's female: ? of chronic knee pain with effusion. In a young female the observations which should be made are whether she has Hypermobility Syndrome (Brighton Criteria) & genu varum/valgus. Absent acute injury, repetitive gravitational stress can evoke non-linear patellar mobility & patellofemoral wear & tear. See an Osteopath & Podiatrist. Reconfigured shoes might help realign the longitudinal axis of leg. ...Read more
I'm a dancer.Have knee pain since 1yr.Initial mri-grade 1 intrasubstance ACL tear.Recent MRI -mucoid degeneration in medial meniscus.A 2nd damage?
MRI report : This is an MRI report; see your orthopedic surgeon for clinical correlation. Your knee pain may not be related to these MRI findings( i.e.U may have tendinitis).Injuries to the meniscus and acl in your age group are usually clinically obvious on exam. Grade 1 signal in a meniscus is usually a normal finding and mucin outs degeneration would be rare in a 24 yr. Old. Good luck! ...Read more

Some activity: You do not have to have a specific injury to cause a meniscal tear. Think rheumatic dz: Definitely confusing! Nontraumatic IP joint swelling, especially in the thumb, brings to mind rheumatoid arthritis (RA). A common complication of RA is costochondritis which affects the rib joints (chest pain) & a variant called Caplan's Syndrome leads to lung nodules. Other autoimmune diseases may mimic RA (lupus?) but testing by a Rheumatologist may sort things out for u. Good Luck! Thanx 4 ur Q ...Read more
3MRIs in 3yrs =early AVN of joint/wornout cartlidge/torn labrum. Bc of worsening symptoms, had new MRI =normal except ligament tear. Mixup or healed??
If it's the hip you-: -are talking about,it sounds like a mix up to me. Things such as a labral tear as well as AVN do not heal like that. If the MR was done on a different machine it can make a difference. Each MR has its own quirks or handwriting if you may, as well as power. 1.5T doesn't show details as well as a 3.0T. There are now 6.0T. MR's in large centers but more dangerous if you have any metallic pieces in U ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
