Get this checked urgently as long term damage is possible. If you have fever/nausea/chills or if swelling/pain is worsening, might even consider ER. Good luck! ...Read more

Left hand middle finger tight with stiffness. Can't bend it. Swollen @ the joint & palm. No pain, just uncomfortable.

No injury?: Assuming you haven't injured that finger somehow (sometimes it is hard to remember...might have seemed like nothing at the time)... I'm thinking things that aren't exactly "serious", but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt! Possibly tendinitis in that finger, or a bit of arthritis in the joint. Try using an ice pack, and reducing movement, maybe w/ a splint. If it continues, I would get an x-ray. ...Read more

Previous hand fx 2 yrs ago no new injury severe thum pain palmar swelling can not open or grasp touching little finger to thumb hurts what the heck?

Arthritis of thumb?: Can't be for sure what you have, but possibly some arthritis at the base of the thumb, especially if you use your hand/thumb a lot etc... If symptom has been ongoing and worsening for awhile, this is likely. If symptom comes on rather fast over couple of days, it could be gout--this can be very painful. Motrin/aleve may help. Consult doc asap. Good luck and happy new year. ...Read more

Tenosynovitis is a : likely diagnosis, but an actual diagnosis can't be given here. Tenosynovitis can be treated with immobilization (splinting or taping) and ibuprofen taken every day for a week, until the inflammation goes down. Consider a HealthTap Concierge visit if symptoms persist. Seek immediate care if swelling, redness or fever occur, because an infection in this location can get "out of hand" quickly. ...Read more
